How did you become involved with Brnoregion Microscopy?

I have been a part of the Brnoregion microscopy community for many years, as this field has a long-standing presence here. In the past, there were several attempts to unify the microscopy community and leverage collaboration and synergies. Several years ago, I decided to take an active role in realizing this idea. I organized a meeting with key companies, stakeholders, and scientists, asking them, „What do we actually need? What are the areas where we can collaborate rather than compete?“ I collected their responses and invited everyone to join the first stakeholder meeting. This mutual agreement and the enthusiasm of the people (our fan club) marked the beginning of the Brnoregion Microscopy journey. During this process, I found my microscopy soulmate, Radka Martinkova, whose energy and enthusiasm drive all actions forward in an irresistible way.

What activities are you involved in within the community?

I play a coordination role, striving to keep all stakeholders engaged and active. I chair regular stakeholder meetings where we discuss key aspects of Brnoregion Microscopy, such as vision, strategy, action plans, and budget. My role has evolved significantly since we professionalized and JIC, along with David Uhlir and Radka Novak, took over the coordination of activities. Additionally, I contribute to the working group focused on leveraging our community. Here, I actively bring ideas to life, support joint meetings, and foster collaboration within the community.

What benefits does it bring to you?

There are two aspects to consider: what Brnoregion Microscopy brings to me personally and to my company, NenoVision. Personally, I am thrilled and happy to be part of something bigger. Sharing a vision and collaborating with many people to fulfill it is much more rewarding than achieving something alone. It’s gratifying to see how we are growing and utilizing our full potential on a global level, making a tangible impact. For NenoVision, a small start-up, being part of this community is extremely important. It strengthens our relationships with key global electron microscopy players like Thermo Fisher Scientific and TESCAN Group. I believe that mutual trust and shared values have opened doors for deeper collaboration with these companies, which is crucial for NenoVision’s success.

Do you have any message for the community?

If you want to make a global impact in your field, you cannot do it alone. You need colleagues, partners, and friends who are heading in the same direction and share similar values. If you work in the microscopy field and like this idea, my message is: Be an active part of Brnoregion Microscopy and contribute to the community. It will help you reach your personal goals while experiencing the joint growth of a healthy and active community.

Radka Martínková and Jan Neuman introduced me to this platform. Brnoregion Microscopy is really pushing forward concrete actions, rather than (blurry) visions and philosophical questions. And you can see that these actions are actually materializing,…
