Halina Jílková

How did you become involved with Brnoregion Microscopy?

Very naturally. I worked for twelve years at JIC, a Brno innovation agency, where our marketing team co-created the local innovation ecosystem with other partners in our region and I continue to work with them now that I’m the Communications Lead at CEITEC Masaryk University. The local innovation community is vibrant, we are always coming up with new ideas and events that bring people together, so… one day I realized that I was a member of Brnoregion Microscopy platform, working on things I enjoy with people on the same wavelength. As simple as that!

What activities are you involved in within the community?

“Activities within the community” sounds like a serious job and a lot of work but I do all the same: connecting people, encouraging them, sharing information, spreading best practices, looking for opportunities… When you have a common goal in mind – to make the Brno microscopy visible in the world, it’s as easy as breathing to put your hand to work.

What benefits does it bring to you?

For CEITEC Masaryk University, this participation is a great benefit. Our researchers use electron microscopes to delve into cells, membranes or other structures of plants or viruses etc. therefore being involved in activities that push the boundaries of science and technology is very important for an institute like ours. It brings new contacts, opportunities for collaboration, innovation and last but not least it makes CEITEC Masaryk University a good name.

For me personally, the network of people I can rely on is the most beneficial. The fact that I can call any of my “microscopy friends” knowing they give me a helping hand, is very comforting.

Do you have any message for the community?

Are you involved in microscopy a still not aboard? Let’s go grab coffee with me! That’s how we do it in #brnoregion.

Who's also here

Meet the people behind Brnoregion’s world-class microscopy — the researchers, innovators, and visionaries driving progress, shaping the future of the field, and ensuring that whenever microscopy is discussed globally, the first association is Brnoregion.

Radka Martínková and Jan Neuman introduced me to this platform. Brnoregion Microscopy is really pushing forward concrete actions, rather than (blurry) visions and philosophical questions. And you can see that these actions are actually materializing,…
